iexpress.exe

iexpress.exe builds self-extracting packages via a wizard. The wizard includes steps that open Explorer file dialogs (e.g., Add files…).

Try Example
File Explorer GUI

  1. Press Win-R

  2. Type iexpress and press Enter

  3. Select Create new Self Extraction Directive > Next

  4. When prompted to Add files…, click it to open the file picker

Mitigations:

  • Disable legacy packaging tools where possible; user education
